Question by maddiekaykay: NJ Law. Please help? We are in NJ & my expert witness. Defendants attorney wants to depose her because ” He?
wants to see how she will be on the witness stand .
We are in NJ and my expert is in Albany, NY. Shouldn’t that be the defendants expense. Myself and my attorney said that the defendants lawyer said “I want to SEE how she will be on the stand. I feel, web cam, skype, FaceTime, etc. Should be sufficient. Who’s expense should it be? Mine or the defendants? Thanks for your honest input.

Hopefully, your expert witness has a better ability to communicate than you.
I find your scattered prose almost unintelligible.
I don’t know the answer to your question.
Which is (I THINK)
“What are NJ requirements for compensating experts for travel and time in a Civil proceeding? I am a litigant in a civil case with an expert witness who works in Albany, NY, The defendant’s lawyer wishes to get a deposition from him/her here in xxxxxx, New Jersey. Do I have to pay for the costs associated with this? Also you should give specifics: which court, etc.
Deposition is their right, but I do not know who has to pay to make the expert available at a deposition.
